此番湯姆·克魯斯因為片場工作人員未遵守防疫准則而大發雷霆並不是毫無原因的，因為此前《碟中諜7》在威尼斯的拍攝就因為劇組成員中有12人感染新冠肺炎而被迫叫停。由於《碟中諜7》與《碟中諜8》在原定的計畫中是背靠背拍攝的方式進行的，所以兩部電影的檔期均受影響延期——原定為2021年7月23日上映的《碟中諜7》現延期至2021年11月19日，而原定於2022年8月5日上映的《碟中諜8》現延期至2022年11月4日。
